The secret everyone is keeping is how they move
They act like sailboats They shrug They are buffeted
they say and nothing’s the matter and I am
damnably happy to be with them I can
barely stand it and I slap the water
in confirmation that I am in existence See
how they proof is in the water that stops me
like a parent like a life-vest bright forbidding that we drown
though that too would be proof Proof is feeling
anything Anything Even and especially if
the feeling gets it all wrong like a stone Say
you kick it and it is hollow sort of gruesome
and it floats until you understand it’s foam
